Excellent stay

Excellent service, lush grounds, delicious food, overall great experience. Highly recommended resort! If there is anything I would suggest, is to possibly have the air conditioning not blow the cold air right above the bed.

October Vaca

We vacationed at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya for five days at the beginning of October 2019. First of all the property is beautiful with a lush tropical/jungle environment. The property is big so be prepared for lots of walking. They do have large golf carts driven by staff to take you from point to point if you prefer, all you have to do is call. We didn't mind the walk though and appreciated the exercise. The staff by and large were very friendly and helpful. Most greeted you with a happy "Hola!" throughout our stay. Our second floor room in building 5 was right next to the main pool and near dining and the beach, overall a good location. The main pool is huge and we had a great time floating around on the blue flotation mats provided. Drinks were always available at the swim up bar or the waiters who came around often. The main pool did get a bit crowded at times but across the street is the Lazy River Pool which was never crowded. The "Go" personnel in red swim suits at the pool were always very friendly and suggested activities for the day. We opted for a cabana at the beach on our last day and had a great time. A couple of issues to be aware of is that the check in procedures take a while. Also the male employees doing the checking in were the only employees we encountered who weren't friendly. They were very stoic and never smiled, not personable at all. We told them of our anniversary and never even got a "happy anniversary". (The hotel staff made up for this by providing a pastry and bottle of champagne) The female check in personnel on the other hand were friendly and personable. I feel that reception is the first impression of a business and sets the tone for the customer. Everyone else we encountered was great. This area needs work. Another issue is the dress code. It's complicated and confusing. When you're at the pool or beach all day and you want to grab a bite to eat you don't really want to go change into a collared shirt, nice shorts or long pants and closed toed shoes to eat. This needs to be looked at closely and simplified. I get that you want some nice dress up restaurants but beach casual options need to be better described and available. Our room was OK and large enough but felt crowded with furniture. One thing that could help is getting rid of the large obtrusive T.V. console. You have a thin flat screen T.V. that doesn't need a large case to house it. Getting rid of those cases would make the room feel a lot bigger. Our visit in October was during the rainy season for the Yucatan Peninsula which resulted in high humidity and lots of mosquitoes. I suggest going to the store near the Plaza and getting some mosquito repellent first thing. I was told that they usually don't have mosquito problems but its good to be safe. Overall though it was a good trip and we would consider the Valentin Imperial again.

Still The Best

My fourth time to this resort over nine years. Probably the largest pool I have been in and I've been all over the Caribbean. This year the daily flyer showed 21 (not kidding) return guests that day alone. That says it all. The French restaurant is tops, marble, chandeliers, waiters in tuxes etc and has a dress code which it deserves. The grounds are vast and maintained daily by full time gardeners.. In past years the walks from beach to main amenity center was a bit tough but now they have hop-on golf carts that run every 10 minutes throughout the property. The food is impeccable. We like quiet and did notice the center pool area got a bit loud with music and activities and a noticeable younger crowd than the last few years. We stayed near the beach end of the pool which was a little quieter. The liquor is all top brand, and if you get the "privilege " package you get four bottles of your choice in your room. This year (Sept to early Oct) we experienced a lot of mosquitoes. First time that was the case I suspect it was due to the daily short afternoon and nighttime rain. The beach is not its best asset due to rocks and limited swimming area although beach huts and chairs are plentiful. This place goes out of their way to accommodate you and i recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale Mexican resort who in particular love pools and swim up bars.
