Watching the sunset off these shores is one of our favorite ways to unwind after a full day in the sand 'n surf, and this beach is a posh spot for all sun worshippers. You can gaze upon the swim-friendly shores from the resort's infinity pool - the view is more than perfect. Your cocktail never tasted so refreshing under this Mexican sky. But, what's really going to win your heart - the welcoming staff will go above and beyond to create a vacay worthy of repeating year after year.

Great Mexican beach vacation
Beautiful, nicely maintained resort. Superior Ocean Front rooms well worth the view! Service is top notch. Food is fantastic. Lobster available at every meal if you choose. Bars use high quality liquors. Mixology bar makes specialty cocktails that will amaze you! Plenty of space available at beach and pools.

Pure Relaxation for tired New Yorkers.
The property is beautiful. We got a standard room and it was a very decent size. What makes this a great vacation is the staff. Everyone works very hard to keep the grounds very clean. The restaurants offer great selection of fresh fish and meat. We havent tried the spa massages but there is a little hut on the beach (this doesn’t belong to the hotel). The massages are way cheaper than at the hotel and the guys are real professionals. Best massage we’ve gotten in years. It’s usd per hour. Great value. The beach is very clean, very few vendors. Definitely coming back here. Please tip the staff at each meal and when they bring you drinks on the beach. It means a world to them.

Snorkeling3 answers
When picking a vacation it's very important to my family that there is good snorkeling. How is the water at Iberostar? Is there a resort in CANCUN or riviera maya that is recommended for great snorkeling?
6 years, 78 months ago
swin92
The hotel facilities include a CDC PADI GOLD PALM RESORT diving center, run by DRESSEL DIVERS INTERNATIONAL. This center organizes numerous boat trips and scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, as well as diving lessons and a host of other water sports and activities. Its comfortable boats are specially designed to enable divers to set off directly from the hotel's private beach.
MariaCC
The water is absolutely beautiful but when we were there the ocean was either at yellow or red flag so only body surfing/swmming - would have been too hard to snorkle. BUT the great thing about Iberostar is it is located ~20 minutes from some fantastic snorkling.
PennySt
The water is so clear and if you bring fruit loops from the breakfast bar you can feed the fish. This hotel is for 18 years of age or old. You would have to stay at the cheaper and more run down hotels if you are bring kids. I do not recommend any of the other Iberostars at all only the GRAND. With kids I would look into going to THE BEACHES RESORTS instead.

How far is the Mayan Ruins from this Iberostar grand hotel Paraiso?5 answers
How much would an excursion from the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso (all inclusive) to the Mayan ruins cost? How far is the ruins from the hotel?
6 years, 73 months ago
New York
The Mayan Ruins are located nearby the resort. For the exact distance and pricing please contact the resort directly.
CaitlinCC
The ones that are close are xelhum and tulum. Very close like 5 miles. The one that looks like a temple and is in the jungle is an all day trip of being very HOT all day.
Carmel
I paid for a tour to Chichinitza (duration of trip 12 hours inclued drinks & lunch) about 110 dollars, and the express tour to Tulum was about 50 dollars (duration about 6 hours, and includes drinks). Both were great tours.
worldwidetravel
Tulum is about 40 miles south of the hotel.

Thulium is 45 mins away and $70 for half day trip. Chicha Itzu is 2.5 hrs away and about $100

The resort is approximately 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Unfortunately, we do not have information on file for the prices of the local taxi cab fares.

The hotel is around 20 miles south of Cancun and the airport.

Playa de Carmen is 15-20 mins away and Iberostar offers a shuttle for $5 per person each way

It was about a 20 minute ride from the hotel. Our hotel had transportation for 50 pecos/person each way.

WHat is the fitness facility like?3 answers
What is the fitness facility like? What do they have? What hours are they open?
5 years, 68 months ago
Chicago
According to the resort's website, there is a "fitness center with machines". The resort also has aerobic, gymnastics, dance, yoga, tai chi and spinning rooms.
CoryCC
It was small, but had an couple of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, weights and AC. They had spin classes, but the bikes were old and located in the indoor pool area, so it was just too hot to do the class when we were there.
BandBinMaryland
Pretty basic with treadmills and cross-trainers. Nice selection of weights. Like an upscale hotel. It is in the spa area and the spa pool is warm and there are saunas (dry and wet) available.

Are there any Casino's in Riviera Maya4 answers
5 years, 67 months ago
Boston, MA
It does not appear that there are any casinos directly in the Riviera Maya. There is the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino located in Cancun. According to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's website, it appears that they may be opening a resort in the Riviera Maya. For further information regarding the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino property opening in the Riviera Maya, please click https://www.hardrockhotels.com/all-inclusive/#/RivieraMaya/overview
MariaCC
There's a bar (Tequilla Barrel?) in Playa Del Carmen that advertises "sports betting", and many of the hotels have a "casino night" (with chips for prizes), but there aren't any casinos that I am aware of.
BostonMatt
Not to my knowledge.
txtravelergal
There is some gambling in special ares and there is a daily schedule of gambling offerings. I did not partake of gambling while there.

25-30 minutes.

The Grand is about 35 minutes from the airport but travel time really depends on whether you are being transported with other travelers. It will take longer if people are being drop off before your location. Cancun is the right airport and it is not much of a drive.

It is $50 per 7 days (max) for 1 device unlimited use, you can change the devices (either from your room or lobby) or if you want free internet its in the lobby 1 hour per person per day
Odessito4ka
There is limited free internet access in the lobby. For internet access in your room or other areas of the resort, the resort does charge. However, pricing is subject to change, so we suggest speaking to one of our agents at 1.800.915.2322 for for up to date information.
SamCC
They don't charge for internet, nor is there a password. just connect to "iberostar" anywhere on the property, for a high speed connection. It was sufficient to stream live CCTV video from back home, and remote access. It does seem to go down about 30 mins whenever there's a thunderstorm, however. It must be line of site or satellite based.

Close-toed dress shoes for elegant casual dining.

Does the price include any honeymoon extras?2 answers
Does the price include any honeymoon extras? When booking through other websites, they include things like a free room upgrade, free breakfast in bed the first morning after arrival, a bottle of tequila, etc.
3 years, 38 months ago

We do not book honeymoon packages. If you would like to book a honeymoon package, we can book the room and you can contact the resort to set up a honeymoon package directly. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
There were no specific, written upgrades for our honeymoon but we did let our butler and our concierge know we were celebrating our honeymoon and they pulled out all the stops for us. We got upgraded seating when we made dinner reservations. They drew a bath and gave us rose petal turn down service in our room one night and they literally catered to our every whim.

Yes. I witnessed SEVERAL couples discussing this with a kitchen staff member, who came right to their able and walked them up to make the appropriate food choices. Starting recently, they also now ASK every couple at dinner if they have any known food allergies. That's a new thing.
rhody401
There are a ton of options for gluten allergies, especially at the buffets. When you check in and the waiters at each restaurant will ask you if you have any food allergies and will accommodate accordingly.

The bathroom area is enclosed and separate from the living room in all of these rooms.

Yes, we had a regular suite and the bathroom, vanity are enclosed. The bathroom inside your room is enclosed in glass.
waterseeker
your entire bathroom is open. Only glass separates the shower, tub and toilet areas. You can close the door to the bathroom off from the rest of your room but if you are in the bathroom with someone else you can see everything they are doing.
MrsMARMER
You have a completely private bath including a shower, jacuzzi tub, and 2 separate vanities.
SuzannaDanna
The toilet, jacuzzi, stand up shower, and 2 vanity/sinks area is one room that is normally open. But you can close it off and even lock it, if desired. There are some folding doors that can come from either side, to meet.

drinks are the domestic only? if so what are a few examples of the liquor and beer considered domestic? are all the restaurants on the resort included as well as everything on their menus or is there a pre-select menu for all inclusive? what is the price to upgrade room? are beach front rooms included in they all inclusive?
thank you
1 year, 18 months ago
USA New Jersey
All food and drinks are included, however dining restrictions may apply.
For example, domestic brands (non-imported alcohol) are generally what's included and top shelf/premium liquor may come at an additional charge, and some high-priced meal items may come at an additional charge as well. For full menu details, please contact the resort directly. As for room upgrades, this can vary as it depends upon dates of travel, booking date, number of nights stayed, number of guests, etc. For more information on pricing, either contact the resort directly or call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our beach experts. All Inclusive is when you book the resort, so if you pay the additional for an ocean front room, that room does come with the all-inclusive.
JeannieCC
A lot of top shelf liquors, American beer as well as Mexican beer. Check with the concierge when you check in and they sometimes have specials to upgrade rooms. There are three lobby areas at the iberostar Paraiso and you have access to all if you stay at the Grand. They have four restaurants and the food is excellent In all 4. They also have a buffet that has a large selection of food for every meal . We have found that ocean views are usually higher priced . Be careful and don't get sunburned the first day. :)
MexicoTravelers09
We paid extra for beach front room when we booked the trip and it was definitely worth it! All food and drinks included. Only time we paid for anything was at the shops. Top shelf liquor. Did not drink beer so not sure on that.
MamaShafer
So their alocohol choices were the best we have EVER seen at a resort. My husband had jack daniels, henessey, 1800 tequila, they have all beers excepet for one, i forgot which one my husband asked for and was told thats the only one they don't have, he just went with a corona. They have many white and red wines. Our mini bar was stocked and restocked every day, mini red wine bottles, beers, juices, waters, pringles, peanuts, chocolates among others in our mini bar. 24 hour included room service. Great menu, fast service. Buffet and a la carte. The french restaurant offered a 5 course or 8 course with wine pairing and we did the 5 course and that was extra. But all other restaurants (highly recommended japanese) are included in the all inclusive. When they say all inclusive they mean it. You will feel like anything you want is possible. We upgraded to beach front for our last 2 nights so we could order room service for breakfast and eat on the balcony. There is a cost but not too much and if you choose not to upgrade, the balcony in any room is still great and the room itself is great, we experienced regular and beachfront.
