The Resort was a nice place if you upgrade. The price and deals offered by Cheap Caribbean are great but just know you will be on the "low" end of things. I sent an e-mail ahead to inform resort that I wanted a QUIET room not near bars or kids etc. Guess what happened? Yes right in the thick of it a pool with all children and loud music right outside my room. They moved us to another room which smelled like mold. I was so frustrated at this point but it was rectified. Although the upgrade was worth it I did have to pay extra for it. The staff were excellent, it was not their fault that we had so many problems with flying and arrived in middle of the night. They worked hard to accommodate our needs. Things got better, not so happy with the beach it is rocky and filled with seaweed. The pools were great and if you upgrade to platinum they have many areas that are quiet to choose from. The AMSTAR service was horrible I had to pay a taxi extra to get to our flight. The driver did not want to wait a few more mins for us to check out. We had plenty of time 3 hours and needed 5 mins due to people in front of us, not our fault and he left he did not wait. I have contacted Cheap Caribbean about this and still has not been rectified. The resort over all was great but don't try to budget

Not for Beach Lovers

To start with the help is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They really do bust there butts to keep resort clean...All the help is outstanding..... The pools are nice but not real big!....There is only 1 swim up bar... Chairs like at all other resorts you play the towel game at 6 am.... We were there March 1st to the 7th...Website says no spring breakers but that is not true..The few that were there were very loud and obnoxious!!!!! We are not against anybody having fun but when all you here is the F Word every 5 seconds it does get old! Lots of young kids 16 or 17 drinking heavily...If you can see over the bar you get served! The Beach.....It is the worst beach I have ever been at!!..If you are going to this resort for the beach don't waste your money!..It i very rocky and small.. You can not go in water with out breaking a ankle.Lots of seaweed in the water and on the beach..They try to clean it up but that is a losing battle... I can not stress enough how bad the beaches are!.... The restaurants are outstanding..But you must have reservations..If you are not a platinum member you get your choice of eating at 5:30 or 9:00..... This is my first time at a resort where you wear bracelets and I will not make that mistake again!..You are definitely second class if not wearing a platinum bracelet......The buffets are pretty good.. nothing amazing just average... The resort is very spread out so plan on doing a lot of walking..... Catching a ride on golf cart is about impossible....They drive by but never stop and offer ride... The internet service sucks bad!!!!! they will try to sell you there premium internet but did not purchase..Who doesn't offer free internet.....Most other resorts internet is free.....They do offer complimentary wi fi but it is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have stayed an many resorts in Mexico and by far this is the worst.. We will not stay here again..

Good Deal

We just got back from out 4 night family vacation (there were nine of us) and we had a great time. Tyler, from Cheap Caribbean recommended this place after I gave him the dates we wanted and the price we wanted to pay. He was very helpful to work with, his recommendation was very much appreciated. After reading other reviews, I was very concerned about the seaweed on the beach. It was there, however; not nearly as bad as some reviews made it seem. They work very hard to clean it up each day by 10 am. We did go in the ocean for a bit. It did not smell bad or anything. No problem laying on the beach on chairs or they have hammocks next to the beach as well. Sooooo relaxing. The pools and hot tubs definitely made up for the issue on the beach. The drinks were great, the staff was great. It is a pretty big resort....we walked about six miles per day. The resort has many different "tones". There is a loud pool that gets more rowdy and has dance music and there is one pool that had live music, the adult pool area with two hot tubs is very, very relaxing. There are bars everywhere and the tequila flows like water. Dining options were really good, not quite great. We were always able to sit together at the restaurants which was surprising, they were very accommodating. I'm not a fan of the put your towel on a chair and come back five hours later deal. We had to be creative to get enough chairs for all of us to sit together but it was not bad, just kind of annoying but like I said, there were nine of us. We didn't stay up very late but they did have shows each night. Not really a big party party resort but you can party it just doesn't seem to get too carried away. All in all it was a great time, the resort was very nice and very, very, very clean. Victor in the Italian restaurant was right up there with the best waiters we have ever had, he was great.

Hotel Description

Hotel Marina El Cid Resort: Experience All-Inclusive Luxury

If you've been seeing white-sands, swaying palm trees and blue water instead of traffic jams, cramped cubicles and mindless sitcoms, you know it's time for a vacation. Choose Hotel Marina El Cid in Riviera Maya, where you'll find those palm trees and blue ocean, as well as warm breezes and a private beach of lovely white sand ready for you to ease your restless mind.

This all-inclusive, oceanfront resort, less than 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport, overlooks Puerto Morelos National Reef Park on the Mayan Riviera, just a hop, skip and a jump from the charming fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Scuba divers and snorkelers can explore the off-shore reef that ranks as the second-largest in the world, while the water lovers find their sanctuary in the heated infinity pool or the 22,000-sq-ft, free-form pool, complete with a swim-up bar, cascading waterfalls, and in-water lounge chairs. A designated children's area hosts a network of waterslides to keep the kids happy, while the adult-only section features a spa tub, sun deck, and a Jacuzzi bar-and-massage area.

But to find the essence of relaxation, go no further than Scaramanga Bar and Lounge, where you can enjoy all-inclusive cocktails while swaying in rope hammocks or lying on plush mattresses on the warm sand. Visit Hacienda Arrecife, poolside, for classic Mexican dishes and 100-plus brands of tequila to keep you palate wet. If you are hankering for something a little different, wander into El Alcazar for gourmet Mediterranean fare, where an extensive wine cellar and delicacies, such as duck breast and beef filet prove irresistible.

Complete your daytime adventure with a dolphin swim before returning to your exquisite Junior Suite, with an ocean, garden or pool view, where you'll find yourself surrounded by contemporary decor and a mild Mediterranean palette of warm colors. Or, if your energy still abounds, just stop by for a change of clothes before taking to the Lobby Bar Cafe & Lounge for a night of live music.
