Best Resort in Puerto Vallarta

I booked this hotel for my boyfriends birthday a month prior. I was a little skeptical at first because I usually don’t like booking hotels I don’t throughly review. This hotel exceeding my expectations. I have extremely high expectations for hotels and I am usually expecting things to not go 100% well, but this hotel really did exceed my expectations. From when we arrived the front desk got us a great room on the 8th floor that overlooked the pools and beach. Housekeeping cleaned our room twice a day which was awesome as we always cruise and are used to this! There is a Gas station right outside the hotel where we stocked up on cold waters and snacks. Everything was really amazing and the bell guys helped us to figure out where to visit and where to eat. Everyone really was amazing. I loved that we had a ceiling fan! There were a couple of cons, but I promise these cons are very minimal. I wish the room had a refrigerator so that we could store our cold drinks, and the rooms could be upgraded a little but it isn’t to the point where you can’t stay. I’ve stayed in very nice hotels before and this was by far the nicest I’ve ever stayed. The pools were very cold, they were actually fairly hot, but it’s understandable with the humidity and heat. Amazing hotel and we will be back! Absolutely loved it and recommend it to everyone. By far the best resort in Puerto vallarta

Great Visit

The Westin Resort and Spa in Puerto Vallarta is an excellent blend of Mexican architecture and contemporary comfort. The grounds with hundreds of palm trees and native flora are excellently maintained. The three very large pools blend into the their surroundings and have numerous different lounging areas. The beach, while only about 1000 feet long, has nice sand and lots of beds, lounges and umbrellas for resting. The rooms are outfitted with quality, comfortable bedding. The bathroom is very roomy. Rooms above the third floor have views of the entire Bay of Banderas all the way to down town. This hotel is a short 10 minute taxi ride to the downtown Malecon for about $5. The nice thing is that it is very quiet at night. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the marina which has numerous stores and some very good restaurants. A modern mall and a Walmart are nearby. We found the main on site restaurant to be good for breakfast but preferred to eat elsewhere for lunch or dinner. There is also a seafood restaurant open for dinner with settings right on the beach. All in all, this is an excellent place to stay. We will return.

I am very satisfied with cheap Caribbean I was worried at first . I had never purchased online , I would always purchase my vacation with a travel agent. I didn’t know what to expect , but we had no problems and our hotel The Westin was great , I would go back to the same hotel . This hotel even caters to dogs . They give you a dog bed and food . The staff was great always very helpful.

Marina area makes this an amazing location

First, to get to the hotel from the airport. It's in section 1A, the closest to the airport, about 3 or 4 miles. We haggled to get Mex.$220. Our friend, the next night paid Mex.$100 for the same taxi ride. Couldn't get Uber to work at the airport and you have to leave the building, turn left and cross the pedestrian bridge to get the Uber. We just didn't have the energy because it was so hot the day we arrived. If the marina were not so close by the Westin, it would get 4 stars. GREAT hotel, but farther from town then we would like. We had a room on the 8th floor, deluxe ocean view for $564 PP including flights from Boston on United and the hotel for 5 nights. Wish we had more time there. We didn't order the buffet breakfast. It was about $21. We ordered 2 eggs, bacon (a lot of bacon) that came with 2 fried riced potato patties (yum) and refried beans, OJ and, toast for about $11 or $12. Refried beans were unappetizing. The rest was great. Coffee/tea were both good, even for Dunkin' fans. The next day, I just ordered the tea, eggs, potato and they threw in the juice at no cost. We shared the bacon. It's too much for one person. Uber is EASY to use. Great option. We were about 20-25 minutes by taxi to town. I think it cost about $10-$12 OW. We were told to try the bus, which is right at the end of the driveway and really cheap, a great cultural experience....It's across the street from the hotel. One day we waited about 15 minutes and then contacted Uber. We ate at OXXO twice. Great quesadilla with hamburg for about $2. Great if you are in a hurry. We shopped there, too. Directly to the left of OXXO is a couple selling tours. They turned out to have the same rates as everyone, but we took an evening cruise on a sailboat and they paid for a taxi to the marina so we didn't have to walk. Ask for EVA. She was great. Highly recommend them. The marina area has its own crocodiles and iguanas, not to mention many very good restaurants. We ate at Porto Bella and enjoyed it. Others were recommended but we ended up eating at the hotel or in town. The PALAPA restaurant was fine, but not exceptional. It is in town and it seems to separate the Romantic Area from the Malecon, which is just north of the bridge that is in front of the Palapa. We also enjoyed the Dolce Vita in the middle of the Malecon. Food was very good, pricing was great, the wine was the first decent pour we got in the area. Everywhere else we found very small portions of wine for about $8. All in all, I would highly recommend the Westin. If you can get the package rate we got for late April, you will do well. We had GREAT weather (no rain or humidity), saw fireworks right from the hotel (one night), had beautiful scenery and enjoyed the oversized pool. CHEAP CARIBBEAN had, by far, the best rates, about 40% less than competitors.

What We'd Change

The beach here isn't extremely large, but it has soft lounge chairs with umbrellas and curtained cabanas, so the beach still feels spacious and breezy.

Why You Should Go

Hotel Description

Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta: The Relaxation Plantation

Residing in the midst of a 21-acre plantation, filled with indigenous flora and fauna, shaded by swaying palm trees and nestled upon 879 ft of private, golden sands on the shores of the Pacific, the Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta offers beachfront splendor for families, couples and singles alike. With seven indoor treatment rooms and an oceanfront pergola for outdoor massages, the Westin's Starwood Spa offers countless options rooted in the art of ultimate relaxation. Opt for in-room service and the four-hand Heaven on Earth signature massage, where two massage therapists simultaneously focus on you.

The resort's private beach, on Banderas Bay in the heart of Mexico in Puerto Vallarta, offers exclusive pampering options strictly for resort guests. If you're looking for a marathon beach day, we recommend you rent one of the 13 beachfront wooden pergolas, complete with one-liter bottles of water, as well as towels and loungers. While the open framework of these pergolas allows for cooling sea breezes and doses of sunshine, the thin, airy curtains provide a private, shady place whenever your heart desires. And don't fret, because while you're relaxing in your cushy lounge chair, the beach staff will tend to your every desire.

Resort guests can indulge in the two sprawling, fresh-water pools that weave their way through a patchwork of lush tropical foliage. Poolside loungers can be found shaded by the stately palms, or sun drenched by the sparkling sunlight which brought you to Mexico and Puerto Vallarta. A children's play area is near one of the main pools to provide family fun, while two outdoor whirlpools offer a warm, swirling water option, and the swim-up bar is sure to satisfy your beverage and snack cravings.

Grab a seafood snack at Arrecife before making your way to enjoy the nightlife in the lobby lounge, La Cascada. Retire to your Deluxe Ocean View room early if you want to take full advantage of the Westin's Heavenly Bed and dual-head Heavenly shower. You'll sleep like a baby so you're ready for another day of fun.
