A nice enough time, but...

The resort itself met most of my expectations and even exceeded some. Where the resort fell way short, in my opinion, was in its complete failure to even attempt to manage a small number (of the many present) spring breakers who were unable and/or unwilling to conduct themselves in a manner that even remotely resembled civilized. I imagine the resort makes a LOT of money off of spring break travelers, but management allowed a small number of these individuals to darkly taint the experience for the other people (including senior citizens and families with young children) and for the resort employees. Throwing furniture off balconies, breaking sliding-patio doors, climbing from one balcony to the next, vomiting and urinating on the sidewalks and grass, discarding cups and cans everywhere but in the appropriate place...the list goes on. This was my third time at RIU Santa Fe and I had first-time visitors with me, and I was embarrassed to have recommended this resort to them, because of the resort's complete failure to manage its unruly guests. I cannot say if I will ever go back, and that's disappointing.

It was ok

The beach is typical of west coast from what I've seen. The sand is somewhat rough and the waves make it a little unsafe for swimming. T the pools are nice though. The water slides could use some maintenance. The slide sections don't line up smoothly and can be a little painful. I think the staff supervising the water slides could relax a little. When a person comes down the slide the staff is blowing the whistle and telling them to get out of the way as soon as they pop up out of the water which was really annoying and rude. Give a person a second to wipe the water from their eyes and see where they're going before blowing the whistle at them and telling them to get out of the way. I didn't go on them but one person in our party was bruised and scraped. I think that may have been mostly from the circular one that dumps people out the bottom. I wouldn't recommend this place during spring break unless you're there to party for spring break. Then I would highly recommend it. There were too many rowdy and loud college kids for my taste. It wasn't too bad during the week but when the weekend came and they came in by the hundreds, I would have rather went home. I didn't have any meals that made me wish I could eat it again but nothing repulsive either, so I'd say the food is just average. All of the staff was friendly and service was good. Pros - It's economical, the rooms are nice, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Cons - It's more of a party hotel, at least around spring break. The food is just average. The water slide is rough and the staff supervising the slide is somewhat rude. I would probably go again if the price was right, but not around spring break.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Cabo's breath-stealing views from the patio of the resort that are picture-worthy.

Mojitos are legendary and de-lish. Order up as many as you want.

RiuFit is ready to buff you up. Weights. Cardio. Stretching. Catch it every morning & afternoon.

The impressive nightly entertainment. Especially fun for the little ones.

RiuLand, where the kiddos can play & craft the day away while you melt into stress extraction at the spa.

Dipping into the Jacuzzi for bubbly relaxation. (Plus always a fun mingling spot.)

What We'd Change

You can't swim in the ocean, but the views from the pools, the sunsets and sunrises and walks a long the beach are stunning.

Why You Should Go

It's close to the heart of Cabo San Lucas' shopping, nosh & drinking spots and the marina.

Whale watching here is epic. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Cabo's famous "El Arco" is in the backdrop. Grab your camera and snap, snap away.

You can dance your heart out at Pacha nightclub. Put on your disco shoes and get to it.

Invigorating crowds keep the party going at the pool, around the resort and at night.

Hotel Description

Riu Santa Fe: Noble Beach Prize Winner for Best Beach-o-tainment

We know you're ready to escape the everyday and head to Cabo's sunny shores. Can't you just picture your day lounging by that big, bright blue pool? Good news - there is a swim-up bar for convenient cocktail-loading. Ah, day drinking just got a little more lively. Of course, Riu goes all out with unlimited food and drink, entertainment day and night, everything you want, and tops it off with a stress-smashing spa. But wait, it gets better. This little resort-gem is located close to Cabo's restaurants, bars, nightlife and shopping. And it's all waiting for you.

It's Time to Get Your Riu On.
Following the addition of 288 new rooms to the hotel and a water park, RIU Santa Fe is introducing their new Riu Pool Party concept.
The Riu Pool Party experience is for guests over 18 years of age and consists of a zone designed for holding 4 large parties per week with local and international DJs.The two afternoon parties are the Jungle Party, and the Pink Party. And the two evening parties are the spectacular Neon Party, and the White Party.
These parties are part of the hotel's All-Inclusive program, and they are open free of charge to RIU guests.

DINING

You know Riu has you covered with a buffet full of anything and everything you want, plus "live" cooking stations that let you order up exactly what you're craving. At night, reserve your spot at an a la carte restaurant - Asian, Italian, steakhouse and a fan fav - Mexican. Beach appetit.

Good news, beach lovers, El Medano, Cabo's swimmable beach, is within walking distance. Time to dive into all this awesome. RIU Santa Fe will be opening a waterpark May 1st, 2018 that will be the first kids water park at a hotel in Los Cabos!
