It’s ok

Sunscape is good for families. Lots of children there. Small beaches in Montego, though. Much better ones in Negril. Staff is friendly and courteous. Restaurants were below expectations. If you want an adults only resort, the sister resort Secrets is nice and comfy. Better rooms and better restaurants for sure.

Affordable resort but not worth the money

My family and I just got back from Jamaica and we (my wife, 5 year old son, and myself) stayed in this resort for 6 days and 5 nights. Pros: Price - One of the most inexpensive resort with a pretty high rating in Montego Bay Location - 20-30 minutes away from the airport Scenery - The scenery is amazing...seeing the sunrise and sunset each day made is so relaxing and peaceful. Beach - Its nice and pretty clean Staff - Frendly staff (but I'm assuming its part of their work to remain friendly with the staff) 24/7 Cafe - Its always nice to know something is open to get something to eat after coming back late from an excursion and/or unable to sleep during the night. Explorer's Club - You can leave your kids here for most of the day and they can do activities and make new friends. The club even gives you a cellphone for them to contact you (just don't leave the resort). We only used this service once but my son enjoyed his stay there. Cons: Food - Very limited places to eat and the food really aren't that great. Gohan restaurant - Very long wait time to be seated (1 hour), long wait time for the food (about 30 min) just for appetizers (30-45 min) for entrees, and (30 min) for dessert....I'm not sure how their staff is trained but were they starting to cook our meals after each course was done? Also the food weren't that tasty...they don't know how to season things appropriately (either too bland, too salty, or too spicy). Portofino restuarant - Much better than Gohan with the wait time and food but their staff aren't consistent. i.e. waiter brought out our entree...5 minutes later brings out our salad...10 minutes later our soup. Also the chef/cook aren't consistent with portions...ordered a chicken carbonara that had 4 tiny slivers of chicken, and then when showing the "manager" He accused us of eating all the chicken already. Beach side grill - Really good place to get Lunch, but dinner time is not so pleasant. Barely any wait time to get seated, but an hour long to get any food. We left the restaurant and just went to the buffet. The Window Buffet - had a limited amount of variety of food...its mediocre to decent at best..there is not enough selection. I know that some people will think I'm being over dramatic or cynical about the food, but wow this is the biggest turn off about this resort. My family "made due" with what was offered and just decided to focus on the beautiful scenery of Jamaica. Waterpark - If your looking into this resort for your kids, please look at pictures posted on other travel sites. The so called "waterpark" for the kids is a disappointment. The slides aren't well maintained and stops you in the middle of the ride due to lack of water/waxing of the slide. It also drops you to a 5 foot pool that I wouldn't consider safe for young kids (even if they know how to swim). The lazy river is very lazy...as in there is no current to help guide your tube...its just you pushing or paddling your own tube. Pirate ship - Its not always open and I think its only open twice a week. Its so bad that I didn't even see the kids play in their waterpark...most of them were in the beach or the pool. So a tip from one parent to another, if your looking at this property because you want to take your kids to somewhere nice, please reconsider. Your kids will have fun in any pool or the beach...this was the 2nd turn off about this resort. Liqour - unlimited liquor but inconsistent with how they make it...either that or those liquor they used are watered down. Concierge - These people won't leave you alone especially if you show any signs of being interested about hearing their offer of becoming a member. My biggest advice...politely just tell them your not interested and just want to enjoy your vacation. Neutral: Cleanliness - Its not dirty but its also not super clean...they try to keep up with cleaning and everything especially since everyone is trekking water into the lobby and restaurants. Rooms - Its clean and you have a great view when stepping out into the balcony. It is very dated and could use a remodel. Staff - Like I said in the Pro's section, the staff are friendly but there are always some staff who are rude or don't really want to help. Conclusion: Although this is a very affordable trip, I regret not staying somewhere nicer. We chose to do "Deal of Fortune" with knowing that 90% we will end up in this resort and we wanted to make sure our son had something he will enjoy, but in all honesty he just enjoyed the beach and the pool where the kids are playing (seriously, there was barely anyone using that waterpark). We expected a lot more quality in the food department considering its an all-inclusive resort, sadly their food was disappointing. In conclusion, I wouldn't come back to this resort or recommend this to anyone. Spend some extra money and stay somewhere nicer. I know this review sounds harsh....but when they advertise a 4 star resort, you're going to expect alot and sadly this place did not deliver.

Jamaica is beautiful.. the resort is listed as a four star nd it is not, it’s more like 3 stars.. the pools are run down, needs work and needs to be cleaned. Staff is very nice and very friendly.. The resort does not live up to the photos. My vacation was wonderful if there was one thing to change it would have been to stay at better resort

Never do the deal of fortune

Never do the deal of fortune. You will always end up at Suncscape which is the least desirable hotel of the options presented.
