Wonderful!

This hotel was wonderful!! The staff was so great. The front desk spent an hour helping me locate my phone which I had left on the bus that brought us from the airport. The entertainment was great, the drinks were delicious!! The only “negative” thing I have is the food. I felt it was sub par. There were very little choices on the menus. My husband and I ate at the buffet for all our meals due to this. We even sat down at the Italian restaurant, looked at the five menu choices and walked out!! I don’t think I ate until I was full the entire time I was there (5 days). You can only eat so many potatoes from the buffet before you don’t want anymore. All in all, I would definitely go back, I would just plan for my meals off the resort :)

Wonderful!

Amazing vacation

If you want excellent service and a wonderful beach, then this is your place to visit! The staff is so friendly and welcoming, as are the people of Jamaica that we met during our trip. They are upbeat and fun, always looking to get people involved in afternoon and evening activities. Some of the nightly shows are better than others, very typical big-resort entertainment, but entertaining none the less. The beach. Soft and cool sand, with little to no waves at all in the water. If you are looking for waves to swim in, then this certainly isn't your place. But, if you want calm water that you can float on a raft, drink in hand, then this is your beach! It's right near a bar where you can easily get a drink, as they are not coming to you while on the beach to collect drink orders. If you have not been to a place where locals are trying to sell items (all kinds in Jamaica) then you will experience it on the beach. They walk up and down all day long trying to sell bracelets, hats, joints, ect. Get used to this as it's part of the culture. The people playing live music up and down the beach was a highlight for us-give a few dollars and listen to some Reggae music while lounging in the sun. The food is descent. Not the best I have ever had, but there is certainly variety, so I can't imagine it would be difficult to find something that you'll like. The restaurants are good, we went to all but the Italian one, so that's a nice way to mix things up a bit. We were in block 6000, which was the furthest building from the main dining and entertainment areas, but still a very close walk. Building 4000 is the closet to the dining areas-or at least in the block of rooms on the east side of the main area. Rooms were recently updated and very nice. Beds are comfortable and shower is nice-what else do you need in a room? We really enjoyed the trip-hotel was very nice. Smaller than other Riu's that we've stayed at, but didn't see that as a negative. W'd go back in a second!

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The stunning beach with ivory, soft sands hugged by the bluest of tranquil, dreamy water.

Melting at the luscious spa, where the massages and facials transport you to Nirvana.

The outrageously delish, lip-smackin' Jamaican BBQ you can nosh on while chillaxing by the ocean.

The Victorian-style buildings bathed in happy, soft pink, which cause instant happiness.

The liquor dispenser in your room. Your hour of happy can start any time of day.

24-hour room service - if you've got a hankering for grub at 3:15 a.m., you can get it. For realz.

The bonfire and DJ on the beach - you'll feel like you're in a movie.

What We'd Change

The airport is a little over an hour from the resort, but once you get there you'll never want to leave.

Why You Should Go

You can hang out at the sister resort, which includes free access & drinks at the disco, Pacha. Woot!

There are oceans of activities for the kiddos, and even a children's playground where you can have some sandy fun.

Must-dos: Rhodes Hall Plantation for horseback riding & Roaring River for swimming in a fresh water sinkhole.

Don't miss bodyboarding, sail boats, snorkeling and/or for a fee scuba and jet skiing. Dive in.

On land, there's water polo and volleyball in the pool for your splish-splashing pleasure.

On the way home, plant yourself in Club MoBay at the airport for grub and A/C. It's so worth it.
