Mold/cleanlines

ID # 32205124 Hi my name chris. It is sad to say i had i believe the worst experience in life in regards to the room cleanliness. I experience in not only one but two rooms an excessive amount of mold that was in both rooms. The initial first room they put me in had mold in the dresser drawers and pillows. Then when i moved the pillowed it was streaks of something on the white ones. I went down to the lobby to let them know what was going on and i spoke to a gentleman, and actually showed him these pictures and was apologetic and did offer me another room. So i took the second room which was right next to the first one . i went all the way back to the room of the second one and experience even more mold in the drawers and then happen to look in the bathrooms to see backed up urine. this shows me that it haven’t been clean in days if not weeks. and the cleaning needs more care Now i tried calling the front desk and even house keeping and the phone just kept ringing ... so i had walk down the resort again back to front desk and tell them about it again. The gentleman told me that he would get house keeping up there right away. At this point i still waiting for house keeping no one shows up for hours to my room ... and this lead me to sleep in one of friends room the first night which i should had to when i have my own room. This was supposed to be the perfect getaway experience Christopher

Better Option

Over all experience is OK but had lots of problems with the rooms. There was paint sweating in front of entry doors, phones didn't work, no Iron board in one room, water didn't drain well form bath tub. We had to change rooms in the middle of the night. The water activities with Scuba was a bad experience. We went on tube riding, the boat stalled for > 40 minutes on for 1st attempt and 20 minutes on 2nd attempt. Food was also pretty much same varieties for 3 days.

We are now all about Riu Resorts!

This was our 1st staying at a Riu Resort and the 1st time in Jamaica and it was our Honeymoon. The resort staff was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The resort itself is clean, spacious and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and having a good time. The swim up bar was cool and had a lot of games and activities hosted by the resort. They had a nice selection of food with 5 restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the steakhouse but even the buffet was really good. They had a nice selection of specialty drinks with many bars and beach bars scattered around. The nightly entertainment was fun. Our room was comfortable and clean. Our maid service was on point. The beach was nice, it is on the bay so there was some sea grass and rocks in the water but only in a few spots. Lots of swimming floating and tanning. The beach could have used a few umbrellas and updated new chairs besides that we had a lot of fun there. We took advantage of the Taxi service at the resort and went to 7Mile Beach round trip for 3 hours for $20 US dollars. The Taxi service was knowledgeable on great area's and places to hang out, swim eat and drink outside of the resort if desired. Overall we fell in love with Jamaica and Riu Resorts. We are already planning our next trip to Riu Paradise Island!

Honeymoon 7.2018

Weather, food, room and all services were great. Wonderful experience for our first time. Only negative was the desserts and night life was dull but it was a family resort. The resort was beautiful for being older and it was peaceful at night as we sat on our balcony and enjoyed drinks. Room was cleaned daily and restocked every other day. Everyone was always helpful and the spa experience was great!!

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The singing bartender. See if you can find him. He'll mix you up a high-octane cocktail.

Great bang for your buck for all the activities, entertainment and food and drink you'll get.

The service at Riu is the best. They keep everything clean and orderly. You will be spoiled.

Nightly entertainment keeps the party going at night. And into the wee hours, if you must.

The sunsets off the shores of Negril are some of the best. Get your cameras charged and ready for snaps.

The infamous Rick's Cafe is not too far - the cliff divers are awe-mazing.

What We'd Change

The omelet bar is favorite in the morning. Get in line early to avoid a long wait.

Why You Should Go

Getting to Negril will take you about an hour & a half, but it's so worth it. Beachy drinks are waiting.

Grab some locally made souvenirs in town. Your friends/fam will kiss your ring upon receipt.

The restaurants at night will fill up, so make sure to make your reservations a couple of days in advance.

Beach shoes are always a good idea, especially when you want to beachcomb your way up the shores.

Pay a little extra to get upgraded Wi-Fi - it will work even on the beach. You'll def want it there.

The One Love Bus Tour will pick you up at the resort and show off all the local night spots in Negril.
