Great place to escape from it all...

I loved, loved, loved this short get away because of how amazingly relaxing it was! The staff was so friendly, helpful, courteous, and professional that I wished I could have stayed longer to even get to know them. Dominican people are the best and so much fun! The hotel itself was wonderful, my only complaint was that the water the for the sink & shower is recycled sea water, which didn't leave me feeling clean, and at times created an unpleasant order. The location was amazing!!! My friend and I felt like we had a beach to ourselves, where at a few steps away we could swim, snorkel, grab food, drinks and choose from launging on the beach, the pool or simply take a stroll to walk off the delicious food. We felt away from it all because the place was never crowded and were always readily attended to by the staff, whose service was impeccable! We went to our vacation at the beginning of June, and although one can stay in this little nook forever close by its the downtown area where its lively with people and perfectly safe. Spa, food & entertainment: My friend and I got a body wrap and massage that was so great we didn't want to leave and were sorry we did not get a facial. There is nightly entertainment at the hotel that is always a good distraction if you don't want to venture out of the hotel or be in your room. The beach party was the best, with the only thing missing being a bonfire but it was more than compensated by the fire show they had. Lastly, the food, I thought it was great, but we only did the buffet on the hotel & at the beach because we didn't want to bother making reservations; but the food at the buffets was delicious and offered a variety of food for everyone.

Worst Resort Ive Been To

I am Dominican but live in New York. I have been to many resorts my entire life since I was a baby and this has yet been the worst. The food was terrible and the restaurants had a lot of bugs flying around and all over the food it was disgusting . The room is pretty big but the beds are very uncomfortable. Entertainment is great they are funny and very nice but the overall service for drinks and customer service and people working around the food were very rude unprofessional and unwelcoming. The drinks here we’re also terrible. The soda was watered down and the alcoholic beverages never tasted like it had alcohol in them and was very better. Yulissa from the buffet restaurant was extremely rude as I had already chosen a table with four drinks on it and by the time I came back with my food from the buffet she had moved them to another table without asking us. Lastly, almost every resort I’ve been to had Wi-Fi at least in the rooms for free and in this resort the Wi-Fi is only free in the lobby and you’re barely there so we have had to pay over $60 of Wi-Fi in a matter of one long weekend which is completely unfair and unacceptable. Also, in one of the restaurants there is a beautiful view to the beach but there are roaming cats all over the restaurant on top of people begging for food and the workers there did not even acknowledge or care that there were cats roaming around everywhere. Overall I do not suggest this resort to anybody. Nor will I ever stay here again and neither will my family as there is a big group of us here at the resort and no respect was given to us by anybody. I would recommend going to Punta Cana and even Puerto Plata to enjoy a nice vacation. It is very upsetting that we had came here to have a good relaxing time and it was not given to us at all. This resort has a very popular name and many people do look to come to Grand Bahia Principe but it is unfortunate that this resort is not worth it and does not live up to their name especially since they have been around for now 20 years.

Beautiful beach and resort

First off this place is more beautiful than the pictures show. Beach was super clean they have staff on the beach cleaning all day and night. The reception was awesome on arrival most staff speak English however most it broken it's well enough to get by. Our room was upgraded to a JR suite and was very clean comfortable stocked except for washcloths. We asked housekeeping and they said they didn't have any, however when we called the front desk they brought them right up. The pool was crazy nice as well as the facilities. Entertainment was just okay. Our only problem was the food. It's not very good. We were really disappointed after seeing all of the reviews saying the food was incredible. I will assure you it's not. The special restaurants was awful. Don't waste your time there stay at the buffet it was ok the Brazilian steakhouse was real bad and the other one was so bad we both could not eat and ended up at the buffet. The beach was awesome with snorkeling 30 foot off the beach tons of tropical fish just watch out for the sea urchins my foot found a dead one on the beach not pretty. Only other thing is it's a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Santa Domingo airport and scary. I would highly recommend a transfer for your safety. Over all it was the most beautiful place we've ever seen and if your okay with slightly below average food and are going for the beach and water it's the place for you.
