Good for the money

Overall the resort was very good. I read in previous reviews how some people's rooms smelled musty and unfortunately, mine did too. They say it's from the humidity and I know people who have stayed all across the Caribbean and have experienced the same thing at different hotels. There were plenty of food choices so you'll find something you like. The staff is very friendly. Some do not speak English, but you will find the ones who do. I read another review where they said if you tip the maid staff, they'll leave you candy. So I decided to try it. It's true. LOL Pools and beach were not crowded when I went (over Memorial Day weekend). I was a "Preferred Member" which had some benefits, but if I had to purchase that separately, I'm not sure I would because missing out on the one or two restaurants that are for the members wouldn't really bother me. And at the reserved pool, they don't check so you can go there anyway. Overall a really nice resort and a nice, inexpensive jaunt for an extended weekend.

Ahhh paradise! Good morning!

Punta Cana Now Onyx & Breathless Resort

We booked our stay at the Now Onyx Resort but had full access to Breathless Resort right next door. It was breathless in deed it had all kinds of entertainment at both, but the Now Onyx was a little more quite and family oriented which is nice. Breathless had entertainment and lots of fun. Access to the restaurant was perfect. Gym was awesome and had nice work out equipment. Service by the employees was excellent they catered to us. Room service was great accept that the AC turns on and off at night and it kept waking me up because I am a lite sleeper unless I was drunk then it didn't bother me..lol. I would recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy a good vacation with no worries of over spending. I also recommend you bring cash preferable small bills 1, & 5's for tipping. Tipping is OPTIONAL and NOT Mandatory. We tipped all the time. Bring cash to spend at the excursion to avoid using your credit card and having to pay high fees which can be costly. They have good sales on bathing suits outside the resort, again bring cash only.... It is very safe as long as you stay at the resort and with tour guides. Can't wait to book again next year. Sincerely, Party Animal...

Amazing First Time Experience - 5/19-5/23!

This was my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort, and it was way beyond my expectations. There were 8 of us, and I think I can speak on everyone's behalf that we absolutely LOVED this resort! The moment you step out of the shuttle bus, you have a waiter handing out hot towels, and complimentary juices were given during check in. We did arrive a couple of hours earlier than the time of check in, but they allowed us to walk around, go to the pool, and eat while we wait for our rooms to be ready. The grounds were beautiful - the palm trees, the pools, and the friendly staff saying hello to you. Our first stop was the bar at the main pool. Loved the bartenders there! Shoutout to Javier for taking care of us throughout our stay, always coming through with the drinks! He and Jsmarilis (sp?) were very nice to get us all towels from the beach area. They taught us the Dominican cheers chant, which we ended up doing at every shot we took lol. The E (Entertainment) Team were also our absolute favorite!! They know how to make everyone have FUN! From the pool games, to the aerobics class by the pool, water aerobics, and dancing at night - the E Team deserves a lot of recognition! They are always so happy with big smiles on their faces. They are one of the reasons why we had such a great time. Shoutout to Maximo, the DJ, and the emcee (I wish I had gotten his name, but he had the biggest infectious smile I’ve seen)! They have AMAZING energy and that's what people need! I also loved how we had access to Breathless, which is an adult-only all-inclusive. There, we got to experience the foam party, water balloon fight, and also got to eat at the breakfast buffet and Mexican restaurant for dinner. Although Breathless was a lot of fun, I must say I do prefer staying at Now Onyx because it is more peaceful and more laidback, and I believe the staff were much nicer at our resort. Our rooms were pretty nice - the only thing were the damp sheets and weird, funky smell due to the humidity. They did have incense for us to burn to help the smell go away. And housekeeping kept our rooms cleaned at all times. Stopped by our rooms more than once a day to make sure everything was okay and made sure we had fresh towels. I also enjoyed the Hershey's chocolate kisses they would leave on the bed. The restaurants for dinner were really good! Hibachi at Spice was our favorite! I think the breakfast and lunch buffet at Breathless were better than Carnival at Now Onyx. The food options for Late Night Room Service could be better or have more of a variety. But other than that, the food was great - loved the fresh fruits, especially the mangos and pineapples! We were scared to drink the water from the restaurants at first, since we were told not to drink tap water in DR. But one of the waiters at the steakhouse told us that the water they serve come in a large bottled water. We were fine - no one got sick. My friends and I also never upgraded to the Preferred Club, and that was okay with us. There was no need. You still get treated like kings and queens. Don't forget to bring cash for tip! We tipped almost everyone in the staff every day during our stay. They were always so grateful even if it was a few dollars they received. But we were so appreciative of their kindness and service, it was hard not to tip them. My friends and I wished we had extended our stay because we did not want to leave so soon! I know this resort is still pretty new, and I hope they get more customers in the future because this place is so beautiful. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come back to this resort! Just good vibes everywhere and so relaxing! Thank you, Now Onyx for making our first time in DR such an amazing experience!
