Great Vacation

We have traveled to Puerto Plato multiple times and this has been our favorite resort so far. The offerings and activites to do were really great. They had a show on Thursday at the Dome that is a MUST do if you stay there. It was very cool to have access to the surrounding resorts! I wish we would have ventured off more. The workers were all incredibly friendly and the resort was clean. The buffet food wasn't amazing but I have had worse. Your best bet is to get in line at 9:00 am and try and reserve a sit down for dinner every night as that food was really good! Beach was clean and there wasn't a bunch of people trying to sell you things. There are bad reviews about the wifi and the air conditioning. We had no problems with either. There are certain areas of the resort that have wifi and it worked great. The air conditioning never stop pumping and our room was freezing cold, like my husband likes it! Over all great vacation would choose this resort again!

Definitely not a lot

The price point was awesome for this resort. This was our first time here. We would come back but it is not the best we have attended. The basics are met.

THINGS TO KNOW IF YOU BOOK LIFESTYLES RESORT

Food is good, not excellent, but good, we enjoyed it very much. I do not understand the reviews I’ve read that say it's bad, maybe they need to go to a 5 star, which Lifestyles is not, but it’s just fine for most . The a la carte restaurants tend to be a little better than the buffet, but we enjoyed both. The Blue Lagoon had wonderful salmon. The Trapiche had very good mexican food, we loved it! Bellini was good, we had the pizza, it was excellent & chicken parm was really good! El Piln had good dominican steak. If you want to go to the a la carte restaurants, the day after check in, they have you go to guest services between 9-11 & you can get reservations & the amount of reservations depends on how many nights you stay. You can also go to guest services between 3-5 for cancellations for dinner reservations. We got 3 a la carte restaurants by reservation the day after check in for the 7 nights we stayed, but ended up getting to go to more a la carte restaurants by going in for cancellations. We ate at a different restaurant 5 nights that we were there. The buffet in the morning for breakfast has great omelette stations or eggs any way you want them. With a Cheap Caribbean booking, you are allowed into 2 different beaches, one at Lifestyles & one at Cofresi. We loved the Lifestyles VIP beach, the beach is wonderful, the beds are wonderful. Go get the best beds by 8am. We left a couple of our things on the bed & went for a beach walk, a swim or breakfast at buffet & never had any problems with anyone taking our stuff off or losing our bed . For lunch, you can order food in your beach bed or at the bar. The menu is pretty simple stuff like burgers & fries & it’s ok. Lunch is available from 11-5, maybe 6. We loved getting sushi from Zun. It was delicious & close to beach area & open from 12-5. I did notice that on the website it says it is open 10-10. Not true. Bars open at 10am. I did notice that the website says beach bar is open 24 hours. Not true, I believe it closed at 7 when the rest of the beach area closed. The VIP beach bar has the only top shelf liquor I saw at Lifestyles. The rest of the bars on Lifestyles property have the Dominican brands, which are ok. We had a room in building 5. The rooms are ok, nothing fancy, but since you will not be in the room much, it doesn’t matter. We felt like the maid service was good, they seemed to clean your room in shifts, like sometimes we didn’t have towels till later in day, I’m guessing due to laundry. They do not refill your fridge with more beer or pop, like they advertise. I’m sure they would if you asked the maids for it. We always had plenty of water though. Pools are all very nice, we enjoyed them very much, just be aware that they close the pools down by 7pm. I’m guessing it’s a safety issue, as it gets dark by then. The only place to get internet for free is the beach area, it is open from 8am-7pm. You can also get wi-fi if you stand on the bridge that is close to the beach area at other times of the day or night. But you are on vacation, so that really is a non-issue. They do have shuttles (wait by front entrance) that can take you to Cofresi or Crown Royal Suites if you need or want to go there. We just walked usually instead of waiting for shuttles. They had a foam party one of the afternoons we were there, that was a lot of fun! Be sure to go. Check their boards for the schedule of what is going on. There are schedule boards in the lobby in 2 places & one by the towel exchange booth by the pool. They had a coconut party, dominican party, a superbowl party on different afternoons by the pool area. They are fun to watch & be apart of. Do attend the Sunday Welcome Party! It has the best variety of food you will see there the entire week! Also a big show with dancers, singers & fireworks! On Friday nights they have the Michael Jackson show at the Colosseum, go see it, it’s a lot of fun! Just so you know, every morning when you come out of the Casablanca after breakfast the guys in the tan shirts will be there to try to take you on the “welcome tour” & try to entice you with a free gift. Do not go on this tour! They will waste half to all your day! I just told them politely no thank you (& you may have to do that most days than not). I have heard they will give you a small bottle of rum (mama wana) if you go. Shout out to our favorite bartender at the beach bar, Jorge, & our favorite waiter, Elvis at the Casablanca!!!!! All in all, Lifestyles gave me a wonderful beach vacation for a nice price. I will go again!!

If it wasn't for the beach canopys

The hotel was fair/good, the bathroom in the small hotel room had a foul strong toilet odor, no main door to bathroom but a door to toilet area and shower, the food was great/ok, the shrimps at the buffet for the one night of my 6 day stay was very delicious, most of the staff didn't speak English, from the pool areas to the beach there are many steps that you have to go down very steep for my seniors and the disabled. The beach had what I call canopy sun beds with curtains was something different for me very nice but you had to go early in the morning to get one. I want to give a shout out to Angeline a bartender/waitress very nice and fast with the orders with always a smile. Please don't get caught up with the timeshare which they say it's not a timeshare presentation but it is, I have to say the VIP villas and rooms and the surrounding areas of the rooms are gorgeous, a pool, barbeque grill outside your room. Alberto the person who showed us the tour of the presentation was very, very nice but when I said no not interested his personality changed. For the 4/5 hour presentation we received 1/2 pint of rum and a bottle of bark (wood) inside a bottle. Took too much of our time when I started out by saying not interested. I met nice tourist from everywhere which made my trip. The Michael Jackson entertainment was good but to compare in Jamaica or (Caribbean islands) the Michael Jackson was superb. Reserving a dinner reservations were always booked and they say come early in the morning to reserve (maybe). Pretty peacocks outside your room patio, music not played all day in the resort, housekeeping staff was nice, the lobby bartender was nice, Again I have to say Jamaica is my favorite trip.
