My husband and I went to Aruba 2018. Absolutely amazing! It's safe to leave the resort and everyone speaks English. So we decided to try somewhere else this year and compare. Went a little cheaper and tried here. It's a solid three out of five at best. Lots of Europeans, and Spanish of course so minimal English including the staff. Some were very friendly and helpful and the rest were kind of rude or just ignored you altogether. Staff and guests both actually. Food was poor quality but lots of options (I'd rather have fewer options and better quality). Rooms are all tile so very cold. But if you are looking for more landscape and scenery this is the place. Beautiful beaches and green and lush everywhere!! The scenery gave them the three or I would have been rating a two. If you've never been to an all-inclusive resort this is a good place to start but I wouldn't go back again. Once is enough.

Extraordinary Service couldn’t save this resort...

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace was a mediocre resort with an unsurprisingly incredible staff. Those who have been to resorts in either Mexico or the Dominican Republic should know what to expect. Buffets, themed restaurants, beautiful beaches, pools questionable drinks and entertainment. One of the most disconcerting issues we experienced upon arrival was the added daily fee for the use of the room safe. Other than the memorable and caring staff, this resort doesn’t provide much more in the other areas. Fist, you are limited to the number of themed restaurant visits you can reserve based on the number of nights you’ll be staying at this resort - although this isn’t uncommon, it’s still a disappointment prospect, especially considering that none of the themed restaurants we attended were at even 1/2 capacity. The themed restaurants were sub par; some standouts were the Mexican, and Dominican (of course). The Italian, and two on the water left too much to be desired. In fact, on those nights where we were unsatisfied with the restaurant options, we went to the buffet or the small and hard to find late hours pizzeria. On the buffets, neither was memorable. The food was edible. The beaches were gorgeous and immaculate. The evening shows were entertaining and festive. Unfortunately, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace doesn’t offer much more. The on site club is open for a 1/2 hour on odd and hard to follow nights. Lastly, the resort isn’t inexpensive, and we expected considerably more for the price paid - we are undecided whether we would return. If we would return, it would be as a last option.

Geat Trip

The resort was beautiful; rated close to a Disney Resort for cleanliness. Do not think everything should shut down outside at 6 pm; music and swimming should be an option in the pool areas in the evening. Dining options were wonderful, and the food was delicious. Could upgrade the breakfast buffet a bit. Overall a wonderful resort and I would definitely recommend. thank you!!.

visited this resort with my wife and let me tell the food here was mediocre at best. The restaurants had decent service but the overall quality of the dishes were average. Most of the dishes were either very bland or too salty. The buffet option had some decent dishes but during the last night of our trip, I ended up with food poisoning and had explosive diarrhea every 10minutes. The service in the restaurants were great as was the front desk service, but some of the workers near the beaches and bars seemed like they were not interested in helping me out. The excursions were amazing and had a blast snorkeling, riding atvs and visiting beautiful islands near our resort. Overall this resort receives a three star from me. Oh and also there are geese roaming around day and night. I wouldn't have minded them but they yell during the night waking me up once in a while.

Hotel Description

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace: Dive into the Big Top

Prepare yourself for some hardcore rest and relaxation, and make your way to the all-inclusive Viva Dominicus Palace in La Romana, located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. This 83,000-sq-ft resort rests on the island's most pristine, white-sand beach facing the verdant islands of Saona and Catalina.

Should diving be your bag, whether you need a beginner's lesson in the pool or were born with gills, grab a four-night, all-inclusive dive package and explore the Dominican Republic, marine-mammal style. You'll find a wonderland beneath the shimmering indigo surf, as well as horse-eye jacks, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and brain coral. Wreck divers won't be able to resist the St. George, a 240-ft shipwreck resting 135 ft. below the surface of the water, just off the shore of Viva Dominicus Palace.

Land activities more your style? Grab a catamaran and explore the untouched perfection of Saona or Catalina. Or take some all inclusive dance lessons with that special someone. Looking for something unique? Wander over to Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace's sister resort, next door (all restaurants and drinks here a part of your all inclusive package as well), and take a trapeze lesson. The professional, trapeze-training team offers lessons for adults in the afternoon, while the mornings are reserved for children. And if you think you won't get bragging rights for your newfound skills, a circus-themed show (every Friday) allows you to show off your big-top act to an awestruck public.

While you're basking in all that circus glory, why not do it poolside, lounging in a chair, rum punch in hand? Now that you've worked up a good appetite, visit the La Yuca Buffet for some international cuisine, including grilled local fish, with a side of exotic, fresh fruit.

Sleeping too good this morning to get out of your king-sized bed? Pull back the curtains and gaze out at the surf from your Superior Ocean Front room, while Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace serves you a continental breakfast, room-service style.
