Nice resort

This is a great resort! The beach is gorgeous and secluded, most of the food is pretty good and some of it is very good! We enjoyed the nightly shows and beautiful ambiance. The resort has lots of stuff for kids (we didn't bring any) and plenty of entertainment for adults. Ocean Kayaks, snorkeling gear, etc are all included. Protip: Don't schedule a tour or excursion with the hotel. They overcharge and you will find better and more private tours on the beach. Protip 2: The Mexican restaurant is the best one. Expect authentic Mexican, not Tex-Mex or your standard americanized fare.

All inclusive vacations

This is the first time we chose an All Inclusive Vacation & I have to say that it was all excellent in every part of the resort. A server in the Mexican El Patio restaurant even prepared for us a special entrée not on the menu & after having it he gave us the ingredients that he brought personally & told us the way to prepare it. We ate there 3 times at El Patio. As we dined at the other restaurants, they all were excellent a special mention the Sea food Restaurent OCEANA, but all the others were just as good: Seaside Grill, the Himitsu, World café the choices were numerous & an Outstanding service at all times very attentive to the needs of the guests The room were always very clean & well done daily; We very luckily 3 day in a row, sitting on the balcony of our room had an exceptional visitor: A beautiful bird who decided to land on 1 of our glasses & drink orange juice, the second day there were 2 birds & I was prepared for it I took some pictures, Another appreciated point was the availability of the Amstar service which picked us at the airport & we took avantage of some of the tous they were offering, one of the advisor Pablo has gone out of his way to manage to get enough people to go to Nicaragua. It all went extremely well & we would like to highly recommend Cheapcaribbean.com Un gros merci which mean A big thank you & as they say in Costa Rica & Nicaragua "PURA VITA"

Horrible stay at Now Jade

I had a horrible stay at Now Jade. My family and I had booked a vacation and wanted it to be a memorable time so we paid extra for two rooms with an ocean view and the preferred club status so we had access to all the amenities. Prior to our trip we were informed by Apple Leisure Group (under the same umbrella company as Now Jade) that the hotel we had booked (Dreams Vista Cancun) was not going to be open in time and therefore we were downgraded to Now Jade. That experience in itself was horrible well because no one would talk to me over the phone and I had to email and it took them days to weeks to email me back and I could never get someone to explain to me what was going on fully so after at least a month and half of back and forth calling cheap Caribbean and being told that they did not know what to do and I had to go through Apple Leisure group who reassign hotels and we were not given options that were comparable to the one we booked for, but we were offered a voucher to return to the original hotel Dreams vista cancun once it opened. My family had never been to cancun and were excited about the beach vacation so even though we were not given an equivalent option, we decided to move forward and if we would not have, we would loose money. Upon arrival, Now Jade did not have our reservations listed. After a long flight all six of us were tired and just wanted to relax and start our vacation, but we were asked to prove with an email confirmation of some sort that we were booked for the hotel. I pulled up my computer at the guest desk was given wifi access and sorted through my emails and finally found a correspondence to show to the gentleman who took a picture of it and sent it to his superiors who then approved us to stay at the hotel. Once he had confirmation, he told us that he had booked us for a garden view room. I explicitly told him that we were scheduled to have an ocean view room and that was a major part of our vacation experience and we had paid the extra money for that. He spoke to some people and finally came back and said okay he could give us ocean view so we were excited thinking that our vacation was finally about to start. We walked into the room to find that it was not truly an ocean view. We were placed into separate rooms two different floors in the back of the hotel. The initial view when you walked onto the patio was of another hotel and if you turn to the left you saw a portion of the Now Jade curving around so in between the final room of Now Jade and where the other hotel began was a gap where you would be able to visualize the ocean. The second room was even worse it was the same view but there were trees blocking the ocean because it was on a lower floor. Needless to say I was tired and upset. We had paid so much money and were so excited for the trip. We went back to the front desk with all our luggage to ask for a room change and at that time the gentleman and told us he had no rooms and what we were requesting was an 'oceanfront' not an 'ocean view' room and there's a difference. Now this is the VERY first time I've ever heard of a difference in Oceanfront vs. Oceanview and when I was on the phone with cheap Caribbean I was VERY specific on being able to see the ocean from our balcony unobscured. I only go on a beach vacation for the beach and needless to say I was disappointed. After lots of back and forth he finally informed me that he could give us ocean view rooms that overlooked the pool but we would have to sleep in the room they had provided for that night and they would switch us out the next day. The couple next to us we overheard were asked however if they wanted an ocean front room or an ocean view room as they were checking in which suggested that ocean front rooms were available but they didn't want to give it to us. When we questioned them about it he said no they did not offer them an oceanfront room. We clearly heard them say oceanfront, but we let it go and moved on. I must admit the food on the first night at the French restaurant was delicious. Food in any other venues was mediocre for the rest of the trip and when you signed in those 45 minutes to an hour wait before you could be seated so you have to sign in find something to do for 45 minutes an hour and then come back and check every so often to see if they can let you sit down now for dinner. The next day at 3pm (check out time), we went back to the front desk to get our room and found out that they gave us a room facing the pool and ocean but on the first floor so you really couldn't see the ocean because you were too low and all you could see was the pool the second room was a third floor room and so I decided to take that one and my family decided to just stay in their previous room because the view would be worse on the first floor. Because the room was facing the pool it was very noisy and you could tell that the room had been used a lot more there were tears in the sheets, scratches on the toilet and lots of wear and tear that suggested that there was no good upkeep of the hotel. We went out and enjoyed the pool and beach and that evening we came back to room that was freezing. Thermostat was set at 18 degrees Celsius (64 degrees Farenheit) and we couldn't change it. I attempted to adjust it and just assumed it would take time to warm up so we went to bed and just bundled up on the freezing room. The next morning it was still freezing I called the hotel staff and the gentleman on the phone said 'it's working well on my end' I informed the gentleman at the end of the line that I might be working well in his end but he should feel free to come into our room where it felt an igloo to experience what we were experiencing and then he asked if I wanted somebody to come check it out. Um...Yes please. The gentleman arrived and I didn't want to wait while I'm on vacation for the repairman to come fix things and so upon his arrival the family wanted to go to pool so we left him in the room. Upon coming back to the room it was still cold. I called them once again and the gentleman on the other end told me again that is working well on his side. Again I asked him to please send someone and he did. It was the same gentleman that had been there earlier and there was a language barrier but through translation with the gentleman on on the phone, he explained that he had fixed the thermostat and it will take a little while for it to heat up and we would just have to wait. It did finally heat up in the room, but that was an inconvenience I did not need on vacation. The beach bu the way is small and rocky with lots of seaweed. We scheduled some massages and even though I enjoyed my massage two of my family members did not they said It felt as if someone was simply rubbing lotion on them the entire time. We ordered room service and one time it took them one hour another time we ordered it at 11 p.m. and did not receive it until 2 a.m. This was the third time for me to go to Cancun and I have loved it. In the past I stayed at Royalton Riviera and Live aqua and this is my first and last time at Now Jade and I will not be returning ever again. Hope this review helped you as you are trying to find your next vacation destination.

Great resort in amazing destination

Overall - this is a great resort - best all inclusive we've been to and we've been to many different ones. First off keep in mind resort is far away from civilization - it's 1.5 hr drive from the airport, it's 20 min drive from Nicaragua. Resort is surrounded by woods and on a beautiful lagoon. so if you are looking to indulge in activities - it is far from all. however if you want to enjoy time at the resort this is the place to be - smaller resort so there is no crowd in the pool or at the beach. Rooms are not huge but enough space and gorgeous balconies with hot tubs make it amazing. Restaurants don't require reservations so if you don't want the buffet style dinners there are a lot of good choices. Room service - servers are very attentive - we asked for a few things and they were provided in minutes. There is a water slide and kids pool which makes this a very good option if you are traveling with kids. Explorers club - aka daycare - was simply amazing - these girls were so great with kids and their itinerary is excellent - not just sitting in sandbox. Word of caution - steer clear of Unlimited Vacation Club people - it's a scam and not worth the money.
