Deal of fortune 4 stars NOT

We were on the backside of the shorter building facing the ocean, which seems to be a much quieter area than facing the poolside. Although the most noise came from people shutting the room doors VERY LOUDLY! I use a sound machine and that didn’t even cut the 2 am door slams. The room was dated but we were only in it to sleep. House keeping did a great job. We ate at the a la carte as much as possible for lunch and dinner giving them a five star. Although the house white wine was really not good at all, and I’m not that picky! The food was really great! The Seaside Grill was excellent for lunch and dinner, and the Italian for dinner was also quite good. The coffee bar in the lobby was great to visit everyday. The pool and beach were VERY crowded, with lots of RUDE people who where staying at the hotel. Music from the pool was repetitive and very loud. The entire pool area was always loud with many kids, and no secluded places for adults to relax. Tons of vendors bugged you all day long on the beach, over and over again by the same people selling the same items day after day. We did have a beach waiter (not with the sun club) who came frequently and worked hard to keep people at the beach “hydrated.” Despite this people left trash for them to pick up and rarely tipped. We found that the Sun Club is overrated. Every evening after a certain time you could go into the “special bar” and help yourself to the mediocre display up slightly better booze with basic mixers soda, but never any rum. The Sun Club beach area was just as crowded as the regular area and offered no protection from the vendors of kids. The nightly entertainment did a great job, fire shows, circus acts, magic shows and a star wars show! There where plenty of activities to do through out the day. Would I return NO!

Sunscape - deal of fortune

We booked a Deal of Fortune 4*. We ended up at the Sunscape and to be honest I think everyone ends up at the Sunscape. The service was excellent. We could not say enough about the wonderful staff. The really went the extra mile. Ask and you shall receive. We really wanted a King bed and it was not available the fist night. They found us the next day and helped us move. Be careful what you wish for as we were moved and then the noise from the bar at night echoed for wee hours after midnight and kept me up all night. That is the only negative. Sure the rooms could be more upgraded but other than that it was fabulous for the money paid. If your looking for a deal this is the place for you. Good food, good people and very clean.

It was ok

The resort was ok. Nothing great but not terrible. The food wasn't very good, the drinks were pretty bad (taste and amount of alcohol), and the noise level was awful. I don't think there is any insulation in the walls. Our room had a great view, but we were close to the kids areas. Kids will be kids. They are extremely loud. Overall I would say if you get it cheap enough and don't mind putting up with noise and kids go for it. You can always eat somewhere outside the resort.

Good Value

We were overall satisfied - , Very Good food - excellent service - Great Beach - Rooms OK - the only real complaint is they have a terrible Fitness Center that almost all the equipment wasn't working. I complained at the front desk and was told it belonged to the Resort's Condos - a very poor answer. I went up and down the 10 floors to get my exercise. I wouldn't recommend anyone that does exercise on a regular basis go to this resort. Only if at a minimum what little they have put in working order.

What's to Love

Family-friendly check-in Hollywood style - red carpet stairs and yummy welcome treats.

Resort passports that send the kids on their own adventure.

With the Sierra Madres & Banderas Bay as the resort's backdrop, your selfies are going to break the Internet (hey, they might!)

Spa luxuries like a Chocolate Body Wrap or a blowout that will make your hair shine.

Golden sandy beaches where you can kayak, windsurf or kick back while the kids make sand castles.

The kids will love the waterslide at the pool!

The Marina Vallarta Golf Club is within walking distance to the resort. Hopefully you won't be yelling "Fore!" too much!

What We'd Change

Booking a Sun Club room would have given us a few more perks that we would've liked, especially room service at night. The kids were completely worn out from all the fun in the sun, and ordering in would have been a treat! Luckily, the restaurant let us take food to-go!

Why You Should Go

You'll have a drink in your hand in no time since it's only 10 minutes from the airport.

El Malecon is nearby with shops, restaurants/bars, art, & clowns performing tricks. (not the scary kind).

Surfs up at the Punta Mita surfing school where the whole family can take on the waves.

You can rent a boat and check out the famous Love Island at the Marietas.

Historical San Sebastian is a short drive away.

Swimming with the dolphins is a must and in the right season, the whale watching will blow your mind.
